Getting the story right

Internews is partnering with the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) – a five-year global project designed to strengthen developing country capacity to implement state of the art social and behavior change communication programs.

HC3 focuses on several of the same important health areas that Internews in Kenya is addressing through its Health Media Project. These include family planning and reproductive health; child survival; maternal and child health; HIV and AIDS; and malaria.

Internews believes that from a media perspective, statistics and data are critical to telling complex health stories, which is why, when it comes to public health strategies, the media should not be overlooked. Yet many frontline organizations working in health still struggle to see how the media can be a partner in bolstering their efforts to educate people on public health matters.

This blog by Callie Long looks at how Internews helped frontline organizations overcome the difficulties in communicating the complex story of Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision.
