“Discredited by their role in the post-election violence, [Kenyan] journalists for mainstream media houses and many of the vernacular radio stations have transformed the way they report the news” – so says David Hoffman, Internews President and founder in a post in Huffington Post, the influential US news website and blog site.
Hoffman was instrumental in galvanizing support for a rapid response program by Internews in Kenya to assist journalists grappling with the post election violence in 2007/8. He is the author of “The Dead Hand: The Untold Story of the Cold War Arms Race and Its Dangerous Legacy”. He is currently writing a book on the ICT revolution and journalism, which features a chapter on Kenyan initiatives.
