Storyfest 2012: A celebration of outstanding storytelling

Winners! of the 2012 Storyfest

By Florence Dzame, Internews in Kenya.

It was an award ceremony like no other on Friday after KTN journalist Anne Soy walked away with two gold trophies, one silver trophy, two iPads and an iPhone 4s cell phone. Anne was the overall winner of Storyfest. She also won the best TV story and was first runner up and winner of the long form category.

The red carpet ceremony was painted with soft light coming from candles placed along the carpet to a high podium.

The chief guest Dr. Peter Cherutich, who is the head of HIV prevention at NASCOP, congratulated all the winners and challenged journalists to think big so that they can write gripping stories including books. “I can write a book but it probably would be so boring. But journalists are already storytellers and should take up the challenge to publish their own books.”
