Secret police to man city slums hotspots
Undercover officers have been deployed to all Nairobi slums to monitor Monday’s elections. The Criminal Intelligence Unit officers started work last week in Kibera, Mathare, Dandora, Huruma and Kangemi. They will work closely with their uniformed colleagues and are expected to collect intelligence that will assist in detecting threats and how to mitigate them. Additional officers are on standby should conditions change quickly, requiring the “rapid reprioritization or invalidation of initial security assumptions.”
