Journalists scoop investigative journalism grants

Internews in Kenya has awarded investigative journalism grants to three print journalists to produce in-depth stories that unearth malpractices and challenges in the area of reproductive health and family planning in various parts of Kenya.

The winning proposals by print journalists − Venter Mwongera, Alex Ndirangu and Isaac Swila stood out for their originality and uniqueness. The panellists said the journalists had a clear vision of their topics and a roadmap to producing their stories.

The grants targeted journalists who attended the International Health and Development Communications Conference that took place from June 25-29, 2011.

Three other journalists – Thomas Bwire, Rose Odengo and Margaret Muthee − were cited for coming up with commendable proposals.
