Enter the Mohamed Amin Africa media awards

Africa24Media and MoSound have launched the Mohamed Amin Africa Media Awards to celebrate the best of Africa’s television journalism.

The awards, named after the celebrated photojournalist, will be accompanied by workshops for journalists.

Enter your productions or those you admire and you could wind up a finalist, with an all expense paid trip to Nairobi to participate in the three-day event and be honored at the gala dinner.

All categories are open to content in any language spoken in Africa.  Awards will include paid contracts to produce content for current and future Africa24Media productions.
Awards will be given in the following categories: Best newscast, best sports content, best use of visual content in social media, best magazine program, best CSR initiative presentation, best mobile phone featuring African images program,   best documentary, student award,  most innovative program and MAAMA’S behind the scenes award.All categories are open to content in any language spoken in Africa.  Awards will include paid contracts to produce content for current and future Africa24Media productions.
The submissions deadline is March 31 and detailed descriptions and criteria for each award are available on the website.

Amin, the Camerapix/ Africa24Media founder was passionate about quality television and trained many young Africans who found venerable careers in media here.  His reports of the mid-1980s’ Ethiopian famine led to relief efforts that saved millions.  His coverage of the rise and fall of Idi Amin, the assassination of Tom Mboya, the Soviet training base in Zanzibar and the coronation of Bokassa as Emperor of the Central African Republic, go down in journalistic lore.  But he also favored Africa with dozens of coffee table books, beautiful travelogues and annual coverage of the East African Safari rally.
