Irene Choge

When she started out in the real world, Irene Choge had a degree in literature and education and a passion to tell stories. Today she knows journalism is her world, and she is the holder of the title of Best Children’s Rights media writer in Kenya (2011) and also the Kenya Media Network on Population and Development female genital mutilation award. Her story for both awards, Dissent over the Cut, was produced on an Internews travel grant.

“I started as a sales person at the Nation Media Group,” said Choge, “But I knew that I would move up to the sixth floor, that is where news readers sit.”
And she did just that.

Irene Choge is a journalist for NTV.
I love what I’m doing,” she said, “Next year I’ll have one good health story every week.”
