UK MPs promise to work with Kenya’s poll winner

Kenya was discussed elaborately at the British Parliament with focus on the International Criminal Court (ICC) cases involving President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta. The strategic importance of the country to the United Kingdom formed the crux of the debate. In an audit of the relationship between Kenya and the UK, the MPs noted the election of Uhuru as president and stressed on the need for him to cooperate with the ICC. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Alistair Burt, however, told members that fears UK may reduce its cooperation owing to Uhuru’s election was not based on facts.
