IEBC picks top law firm to defend it in Cord petition

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has gone for a top law firm to represent it in the presidential petition filed on Saturday at the Supreme Court by the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy and some civil society groups. According to sources, Iseme, Kamau and Maema Advocates will be holding brief for the IEBC in the case in which Cord presidential candidate Prime Minister Raila Odinga wants the Supreme Court to annul the outcome of the elections. The law firm’s managing partner is James Kamau, while other partners are William Maema and Karori Kamau. A former Law Society of Kenya chairman Ahmednassir Abdullahi could also be in the team defending the IEBC and in effect the election of Jubilee presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta.
