Okemo, Gichuru case for January

A Nairobi court will next month issue a ruling that may make way for the hearing of the extradition request against two Kenyans wanted in Jersey Island to face fraud charges. The Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko is pushing for the extradition of Nambale MP Chris Okemo and former Kenya Power boss Samuel Gichuru to face charges of money laundering, fraud and misconduct while in public office The DPP authorized their extradition following the request by the UK in accordance with the Commonwealth Extradition Act. Okemo and Gichuru are seeking to have the extradition case dismissed.  They allegedly received Sh902 million to award tenders in the energy sector. Okemo was Energy minister between 1999 and 2001.   Gichuru served as the KPLC managing director between 1983 and 2003.
