Ex-MP Pushed for Money to Protect Kikuyus, Court Told

Lewis Nguyai told the ICC that funds were raised to defend fellow Kikuyus during the poll violence. Nguyai who was a de fence witness for Uhuru Kenyatta said he did not know how the money was collected and distributed but four MPs were involved in it. He said the Mungiki wanted to contact Uhuru and the President in order to get money to buy arms and use them to fight off attack. Meanwhile, Ruto was urged to maintain decorum and desist from making inflammatory remarks with threats to arrest. This was in a closed session before he left to return hom in an application made by the prosecution.
