Mutunga Appoints First Chief of Staff
CJ Willy Mutunga has created a new post of Chief of Staff in the Judiciary and named Duncan Okello to be the first holder of the office. Okello will be responsible for coordinating relations with government department, private sector and NGOs. He will also act as the ombudsman and will receive complaints and feedback from the public and other arms of government. This will make the judiciary more accessible to the public and accountable in its operations. Mutunga also outlined the three pillars of hist judicial reform agenda as strategy formulation and implementation, policy research and knowledge generation as well as communication and external relations.
