Bill to Amend the Constitution Published
The government has published the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill that seeks to change the date of the elections and also address the gender provisions in the Senate and Parliament. The Bill seeks to move the elections from the second Tuesday of August in every five years to December. Mutula Kilonzo has defended this move saying it offers a lasting solution to gender parity issues. Meanwhile, the NCCK has opposed these amendments saying they are meant to appease politicians and not the Kenyans at large. Source: Daily Nation, Pg 60 Date: Thursday, 22 Sep 2011
