0 0 0 New Statistics show that half of the 1.5 million women, who give birth annually, half deliver at home. This has therefore complicated the efforts of the government to effectively prevent newborns from contracting HIV. Women living with HIV are discriminated against in hospitals and are forced to give birth on the floor or unattended. Some women hence prefer to go to traditional birth attendants (TBA’s) who are welcoming not knowing that the health of their child will be compromised.
