5-14 Year Olds New Target in Campaign against Malaria Infection
The latest Kenya Malaria Indicator Survey shows that malaria prevalence is highest among five to 14 year olds nationwide, with 13 per cent testing positive for malaria by blood smear, and while older children living in endemic areas may have developed immunity against the clinical disease before their fifth birthday, they are still susceptible to parasite infection, the report notes.
