A new oral HIV self testing technology, which is a move away from the current invasive approach may lead to reduced infections and increase in the number of persons put under antiretroviral drug treatment regime, with an evaluation report by the Kenya AIDS vaccine initiative showing that the method has shown excellent performance comparable to the Determine and SD Bioline test currently in use.
